City of Austin

Combined Emergency Communications & Transportation Management Center - Austin, Texas  

(LEED Silver Rating)

 

A regional 911 Center housing the sophisticated electronic equipment and highly trained emergency communications personnel for the various City of Austin departments and Travis County agencies.  Project site is approximately 13 acres.  Proposed project consists of a 72,500 square foot building, a parking lot for approximately 230 cars and the related drainage, water and wastewater improvements.  The project achieved the Silver Rating in the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program.

 

 

George Washington Carver (African-American) Museum and Library Expansion - Austin, Texas 

(LEED Certified Rating) 

 

The George Washington Carver Museum and Library expansion project is a 30,000 square foot cultural arts facility and 15,000 square foot library addition located at Angelina Street and Rosewood Avenue in downtown east Austin.  The project is on 15-acres of city parkland, next to the Kealing Junior High Magnet School.  Raymond Chan & Associates, Inc. are the civil engineers for the project and designed the grading, drainage, parking and drive, water & wastewater facilities.  A major element of the job was to relocate a portion of the city’s 24-inch water transmission main to facilitate placement of the new museum.  The project is also designed under the City’s environmental sustainability building program (LEEDS). 

EMS Station at Nuchols Crossing - Austin, Texas

(LEED Gold Rating)

 

A new Emergency Medical Service station in the far southeast Austin area was constructed on a 2-acre tract located near the intersection of Nuckols Crossing and Village Square Drive. The layout of the parking lot included 14 parking spaces, two of which are handicap accessible, for employees and visitors. A handicap accessible route was from the roadway to the front door was also provided. The site obtained a gold certification under the LEED™ program.

Turner Roberts (Colony Park) Recreation Center - Austin, Texas

(LEED Registered - Under Construction)

 

The project site (limits of construction) consists of approximately 35 acres on land owned by the City of Austin Parks Department and is located on the north side of Loyola Lane in northeast Austin. The proposed development consists of a new elementary school and a new recreation center with the associated roadway, parking, driveway, water, wastewater and drainage improvements. The elementary school is planned to be designed and constructed concurrent with the Colony Park Recreation Center. Raymond Chan & Associates, Inc. was the civil engineer for both the school and the recreation center projects, working for different architects and Owners. One Site Development Permit (SDP) was acquired for both recreation center and school projects, with a phasing plan being developed to allow opening of each project as a stand-alone project.

Lower Colorado River Authority

McKinney Roughs Phase 1 and 2, LCRA Education Facilities and Dormitories - Bastrop, Texas

 

Construction of driveway and utility improvements to serve

the proposed environmental center, dining hall and

3 separate dormitory buildings.

City of Georgetown

City of Georgetown Downtown Library

 

Approximate 3-acre site is located in the block bounded by 8th St., S. Rock St., 9th St., and Forest St. in downtown Georgetown. The City of Georgetown proposes to construct a new approximately 25,000 square foot library and 129-space parking lot. Services Provided: Developed construction plans for all civil/site related work. Prepared and submitted a Water Pollution Abatement Plan (WPAP) to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Prepared Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) for on-site construction activities, which made use of the innovative “Biodegradable Erosion Control Logs” per TxDOT specification 5049. These flexible filter tubes provide sediment-trapping features, however are still portable. Their locations can be easily changed to reflect daily construction activities.

City of Georgetown Fire Station at Leander Road and Industrial Drive

 

The approximate 2-acre site is located near the intersection of Leander Rd. and Industrial Dr. in southern Georgetown.  The City of Georgetown proposes to construct a new approximately 12,000 square foot fire station, 21 parking spaces, and emergency vehicle access driveways. Develop construction plans for all civil/site related work, prepare and submit a Water Pollution Abatement Plan (WPAP) to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).

North Operations & Maintenance Facility - Austin, Texas

 

The Capital Metro North Operations and Maintenance Facility is a 110,000 square foot bus and van transit operations center. The site is located on an 18-acre site just north of Hwy. 183 and east of Burnet Road (F.M. 1325). The fast paced project required programming, design, permitting and construction to be completed in less than 20 months. The project is currently in the construction phase and is on schedule. Raymond Chan & Associates, Inc. is the on-site civil engineer for the project and designed the grading, drainage, parking and drive, water & wastewater facilities. Several major elements of the project included demolition of existing industrial facilities, solving the public water system’s limitations in the area, permitting the site without on-site water quality and detention facilities, re-routing drainage conveyance, off-site roadway improvements, and implementation of varying concrete pavement designs.

Pavilion Park & Ride Expansion - Austin, Texas

(Currently in Design and Permitting Phase)

 

Expansion of the existing Pavilion Park and Ride facility located at 12400 Research Blvd The site is located between Oak Knoll Drive and Pavilion Blvd, and has access onto the southbound frontage road of Hwy. 183 and Jollyville Road.

The existing park & ride facility is located on a 5.67-acre lot. Capital Metro has purchased two adjacent lots, a 0.5-acre tract along Hwy. 183, and a 0.9-acre tract along Jollyville Road. The purpose of the park & ride expansion is to add between 80 to 100 parking spaces and to separate internal bus and patron vehicle traffic for safety and convenience.

 

 

Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) / Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

 

Texas Department of Public Safety, Fire Range Facility - Florence, Texas

The scope of this project included design and construction of five shooting ranges for use in training law enforcement personnel.   The firing ranges are the first phase of a ten-year development plan for the 1000-acre tract.  Extensive effort in value engineering during the preliminary phase was performed to determine the most cost-effective design to maximize the limited budget.  Prepared construction plans for drainage, site grading, and vehicle access to the site.  Assisted in acquisition of geotechnical, surveying, water well, and septic tank design services.  Prepared and submitted Contributing Zone Plan for project to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

 

Texas Department of Public Safety, Bryan District Office - Bryan, Texas

(Currently in Design Phase)

 

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is proposing a District Office in Bryan, Texas.  The project site is located on a 6.5 acre track off of Highway 6.  RC&A’s assistance is to provide civil engineering services, from schematic design through construction observation.  RC&A will also analyze required off-site water system improvements to service the proposed DPS district office.
